Authentic engagement requires connection between who someone is at their core and how connected they are with their work.

Engagement is so often used in our world of marketing, where it often boils down to “did the user take action?” and that alone becomes the key metric of success for the content we create. It’s pretty straightforward and simple, and often doesn’t tell the whole story.

This type of one-click engagement is NOT what we are talking about here. Our definition of engagement is far more nuanced and really gets into how emotionally-invested and energetically-aligned one is to themselves, to others and to their organization. 

This type of engagement requires time for reflection, increased awareness of what lights them up and tools to sustain higher levels of energy.

Foundations of Full Engagement

At Create + Lead, we believe engagement is driven by four key factors, which we call the FFEs…the Foundations of Full Engagement. To be fully engaged, you need to be aware and deeply connected to each of these.

When one of these is challenged, we start to see employees disengage and over time, the organization and industry will lose these employees. 

But when these four foundations are all clear for the employees and they’re able to use them as a compass for how they show up in the world, we see enthusiastic, productive, invested and connected employees. And that type of engagement is contagious.

We created the Power of Engagement workshop to give time and space for employees to get to the root of each of these foundational elements so they’re able to unlock what it means to be fully engaged and can choose to show up that way each and every day.
